Day 2 Review
I promised a daily review of my festival betting guide selections and here is the day 2 fallout.
We started down 1.28 points from day 1.
In the Ballymore, the favourite Envoi Allen was impressive. A loss of 1pt for me.
In the RSA, I would have had the winner if he had jumped the last well. I was gutted to see that after that loss of momentum, Minella Indo struggled up the hill and was caught by Champ close to home. Another 1pt loss and down 2pts on the day.
In the Coral Cup, Stolen Silver was a non-runner, so no bet. Dame De Compaigne won well at a much shorter price than I suggested. At the odds suggested she generated a profit of 3.55 points and moved me up 1.55 points on the day.
The Champion Chase was some result. Having put up two outsiders, the field was reduced when both Altior and Chacun Poir Soir were non-runners. The ante-post bets still paid three places and the odds suggested still payout, so it was a bumper race with the 1st and 2nd suggested! Dynamite Dollars showed a profit of 0.75 points and Politologue a profit of 7.5 points. 8.25 on the race and up 9.8 points on the day.
I nearly secured another profit in the Cross Country, but Diesel D’Allier was a close 4th and that meant a loss of 1 point. Still up 8.8 for the day though.
In the Boodles, Mick Pastor was unplaced, but Night Edition was 2nd and the race generated a small profit of 0.03 to move the daily profit to 8.83.
The last race was the bumper and neither Israel Champ nor The Glancing Queen were able to make the frame. Whilst this was a 1 point loss, the day showed a 7.83 profit and the week so far, a profit of 6.55points.
