Weekly Update 01-07-18

By On 1st July 2018

Short “week” this one having posted the last blog on Tuesday.  More entries for our horses have been and gone in another week of warm summer sunshine.  Next task to work out how to get to Perth for a race on Thursday if My Brother runs.  It is quite a drive from Surrey and some air travel may be required.  Jet setting lifestyle being a racehorse owner!

The Way You Dance

We entered The Way You Dance to run at Chepstow on Tuesday but this morning we decided not to declare him for that race.  Chepstow has been reporting the ground as good to firm all week, but when they took a going stick reading yesterday it was 9.6 which is pretty much an average reading for firm ground.  They have watered yesterday and got the reading down to 9.2 but even good to firm ground would typically be around 8.5 so this reading still would suggest that they are on the firmer side of good to firm.

Fast ground on Tuesday was almost guaranteed.  It was looking like quite a competitive race and up and down hills on fast ground is only going to exaggerate the risk of re-introducing the post race soreness that affected TWYD last season, so we took the decision not to run.

There is a race at Nottingham next Saturday that we may look at, a hurdle at Uttoxeter the following Tuesday and an all weather flat race at Kempton on the Wednesday.  There are good hurdles at Newton Abbot and a Worcester towards the end of July as well.

Why not buy into The Way You Dance and get involved in his success.  Shares are £280.50 per 1%, reducing to £275 per 1% if you buy 5% and £270 per 1% if you buy 10%. Plenty more chances to come racing this summer and there is nothing else to pay before renewal in October. Contact me for details.

Justice Super

Unfortunately my possible re-homing of Justice Super has fallen through.  If anyone reading this would like a well mannered and likeable horse as a hack / pet, please get in touch.

My Brother

I know we said we wouldn’t do this, but Neil has made an entry for My Brother at Perth on Thursday!

My Brother is in good order after a couple of days easier work and Neil saw that there were very few entries for the race and decided to put My Brother in so he could take a look.  Having done so, it has to be said that this is by far the weakest race on paper that we have put him into in recent weeks and Perth are watering heavily and have stated that they will produce good ground.

We will take a look as the week progresses.  It is fair to say that the entry was speculative, but is fast becoming a pretty viable option.  It is a long way to go for a run, but it may be the only place where we will see the right ground in the coming weeks.

Shares in My Brother are £450 for 1%, but I will discount these to £430 per 1% for 5% purchase and £410 per 1% for 10% purchases.  I am also happy to take instalment payments.  This is an all in cost to 31st October 2018 and at renewal shares will be less than £200 per 1% share to cover training fees should you decide to stay involved for another year.  If he does run on Thursday, it is not too late to get involved before he runs.  Please contact me for more information.

From The Stables

On Tuesday, Highbury High ran a nice race to finish 3rd for Neil and Green and Black and Collodi, Neil’s other two runners were 2nd and 3rd.  Lake Shore Drive ran well for Johnny finishing 4th.

Neil had County Peckham unplaced on Wednesday and there were no runners from our stables on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.  Today, Neil had unplaced efforts from Code of Law, Shantou Village and Magical Thomas.  Johnny also had two unplaced at Uttoxeter where he ran, Sporting Boy and Courtlands Prince.  The former ran well in what was a nice race.  He was up with the leaders throughout and was not beaten too far, beating several more fancied runners in the process.

Get Involved

Buying a share in one or both of the horses is a decision that you will not regret.  All quoted prices include the purchase price of the horse and should you decide to renew for a second year, you will only need to pay training fees which are under £200 per 1% share.  If you are interested in discussing what is involved, then please do get in touch as I would be delighted to discuss things with you.  I also have an e-book entitled “Racehorse Ownership – Everything You Might Have Wanted To Know But Would Not Have Known Who To Ask“.  This is free and the download page can be accessed by following this link: https://www.bgracingsyndicates.co.uk/subscribe-for-our-free-guide/

Have a great week.
