Weekly Update 01-10-17

By On 1st October 2017

Another week under our belts, as The Way You Dance moves closer to another run and Justice Super continues to progress in his rehabilitation.

The Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe today and it was the John Gosden / Frankie Dettori favourite Enable who landed the prize.  Ulysses was third continuing his fine season and selfishly I hope he now heads to the Breeders Cup where I have an ante post bet at 12-1!  A nice winner for Alan Fleming over in Ireland yesterday with Deputy’s Pass coming up trumps.  Alan was hopeful rather than confident as he was a little concerned about the ground, but Deputy’s Pass looks like he handled it well.  Johnny also had a winner this week, but Neil has had a quiet patch in recent days.

A big week of sales in Newmarket with yearling sales going on.  Anyone with a hundred grand or so burning a hole in their pocket could probamight pick themselves up a nice yearling!

The Way You Dance

The Way You Dance is entered at Kempton on Wednesday and we would like to run there, but a final decision will be made tomorrow (Monday) after TWYD has worked.

There is a bit of a dearth of suitable alternative races.  We would need to wait a week for races on the all weather at Kempton or Chelmsford and the race conditions are not a favourable as Wednesday.  All the available turf races are up North and probably will be on soft ground.  We did also look to see if there were hurdle races that might be a better option, but even then we will have to wait 10 days or so for Worcester or Wincanton and may encounter soft ground!

Justice Super

The report from Ireland today is that all continues to go very much to plan for Justice Super who is still going nicely.  He will spend a few more weeks on the roads as part of his rehabilitation from his injury at the end of last season.

All the best
