Weekly Update 02-04-18
By BG Racing Syndicates On 2nd April 2018
Great weather for the garden but not much good for horse racing! More meetings abandoned today and whilst our horses wont want the ground too hard, they would all prefer a sounder surface than we have at the moment.
The Lambourn open day which raises thousand of pounds for charity was almost totally abandoned on Friday with only Nicky Henderson’s yard able to open which must have been really disappointing to those who put so much effort into the organisation. It looks as though a decent crowd went to Seven Barrows though, so hopefully everyone still had a good morning seeing some top class horses.
There is supposed to be racing at Huntingdon today and when they abandoned, they posted a photo of a fence in the middle of a lake that was once the track. This prompted one wag to respond “looks no worse than good to soft – disgraceful decision by the clerk of the course to abandon racing!”, so at least the rain is not dampening the racing community’s sense of humour.
As I mentioned last week, I would like to sell some more shares in Justice Super before he runs, so if you (or anyone you know) would like to get involved, please could you contact me or tell them to contact me asap. £258.50 per 1% to 31st August including purchase of the share at a current valuation of the horse. Discounts on 5% or larger purchases reducing it to £250 per 1% share.
In case you have missed it, I recently launched an e-book entitled “Racehorse Ownership – Everything You Might Have Wanted To Know But Would Not Have Known Who To Ask“. This is free to get hold of and if you have not got your copy then the download page can be accessed by clicking this link.
There is an introductory video and a box on the right to enter your name and email address. You will then be taken to a thank you page from which you can open the guide. You will also receive an email with a link direct to the guide.
If you have any friends, colleagues or contacts that you think might like to have a copy, can you send them to the following link: https://www.bgracingsyndicates.co.uk/subscribe-for-our-free-guide/
The Way You Dance
I spoke to Neil yesterday about The Way You Dance who has had another good week and Neil sounded really pleased with both him and My Brother. All still looking good for a run at the back end of April or early May, all we need is a bit of drying weather to give him the ground he needs!
He should run regularly for us throughout the summer and autumn and offers plenty of chances to go racing and a pretty low entry cost.
Johnny schooled Justice Super this week and all went well, he jumped nicely and whilst he needs more schooling, the report was all positive. Johnny does not want to start him out on really soft ground especially as Justice is likely to need the race first time up. We will continue to monitor the ground and may make entries at Kempton and Southwell next week, but we would need the ground to firm up to make those realistic options.
This means that you can buy a shareholding and come racing as an owner in the next couple of weeks. Please contact me if you need any more details.
Neil confirmed that My Brother is still ahead of The Way You Dance in his prep and should be ready in the next few weeks. We have not yet discussed race plans, but we will certainly start to do so in the next week or so. If he runs in April, then we will start him on the flat to protect his novice status over hurdles.
With sales commissions etc, My Brother is valued at just under £26,000 and whilst this might seem a lot, there are not many other horses rated as high as him on the flat that have sold for less money that that in the period since 1st November. I have also obviously incurred all the training costs since 1st November which is why the shares in him run to 31st October to allow for recovery of the full year’s training fees. Shares are £450 per 1% or £430 per 1% share for purchases of 5% or more. Renewing for a second year if we decide to keep him going will be under £200 per 1% share from 1st November as only training fees would be needed at renewal. Please contact me if you want more information.
From The Stables
Last week (Monday) started with three runners at Taunton, where Johnny’s Inch Lala was unplaced and Crown Hill ran really well without ever looking like getting placed. Neil had a winner though with Moving in Style winning the last. On Tuesday, Neil was concerned about the ground for Mrs Burbidge and she drifted in the betting before finishing 3rd in the race, so that proved correct. Johnny was surprised by the market support for Marvellous Monty, but the horse was third and ran well. Not much luck on Wednesday for Neil or Johnny. Neil had Carole’s Vigilante who was unplaced and Tenby Two did not sneak an place either. Whilst Koubba proved best of the two in the 3.25, she was still only placed and Albert D’Olivate at Warwick went very close but was only 2nd. Kristal Hart and Shee’s Lucky were both unplaced. Johnny’s Beast finished 2nd and False Id stayed on really well but finished just behind the leaders.
On Wednesday, Johnny expected Stringybark Creek to run well but he didn’t! Finish the Story was also well beaten. There were no runners from our stables on Friday, but there were on Saturday although they all ran poorly. Whatsthatallabout fell and both Fingerontheswitch and Southfield Royale were well beaten for Neil, whilst Johnny’s Dalasiri ran a stinker and was well beaten,
On Sunday we had no runners.
Website and Social Media
I put out a Cheltenham review video on Facebook a couple of weeks ago – if you did not see it and still want to, then you can watch it on the BG Racing Facebook Page.
Thinking of Joining Us?
Our three horses all have shares available and now is the time to take the plunge as all will be running soon.
The Way You Dance will be targeting three mile hurdle races and with an exciting winning debut over that distance there is lots to look forward to. Shares are £280.50 per 1% share and if the last two seasons are an indication, then there will be several opportunities to go racing and hopefully this season there will be plenty of prize money as well! Details on the horse page.
Justice Super shares are £258.50 per 1% to 31st August. He will run very soon and could be capable of a higher level than that The Way You Dance. Shares are good value and details are on the horse page.
My Brother was well rated on the flat and if he converts that ability to hurdles then he could be a “Saturday horse” capable of running in top races in due course and we can also run him on the flat if we want to. Shares are £450 per 1% shareholding and this is a chance to get involved with an exciting prospect. Details on the horse page.
I should point out that all of the above include the purchase price of the horse. Should you decide to renew for a second year, you will only need to pay training fees which are under £200 per 1% share.
Contact me if you want any further information and I hope you have a great week.
