Weekly Update 03-07-19

By On 3rd July 2019

I hope you enjoyed the weekend – it was warm, wasn’t it?  I am not sure of the wisdom of walking about 15 miles of the Thames Path across two days, but that was my choice of weekend activity.  On Saturday evening, I went to see the movie Yesterday which I really enjoyed.  I think it was the movie and not just the reclining arming chair seat in an air-conditioned cinema after a hot day walking, but I cannot be sure.

I went to the yard to see Fr Humphrey, The Way You Dance and My Brother yesterday.  Fr Humphrey will be running soon and I am still trying to sell the remaining shares, so please let me know if you know anyone I should pester!

Fr Humphrey

Fr Humphrey was in good order when I saw him yesterday.  We are looking at giving him his debut run in around three weeks.  There is a race at Southwell on Tuesday 23rd July that we will try to get Fr Humphrey ready for.  There is another at Market Rasen in early August and these would both be ideal if we can get him ready in time, with a race at Fontwell later in August that comes after about the right break thereafter.

Shares are being sold at only £125 per 1% share for the summer (to 31st October).  5% will be discounted to £600 and 9% to £1000.  Please contact me if you might be interested and I will provide you with further information.  These payments are all inclusive for the period with nothing else to pay.  Shareholders will get badges when he runs and their share of any prize money won.

The Way You Dance

We did not enter The Way You Dance in the selling hurdle at Newton Abbot next Friday (5th July) as he was not qualified to run.  He will be entered in an upcoming horse in training sale.

My Brother

My Brother has been turned out for the summer.  I saw him in the field with several of Neil’s other holidaying horses yesterday and he seemed very happy.  He is on track with his recovery from injury and he remains on target for us to have him back firing on all cylinders later this year.   Now is the time to let me “do you a deal” on a shareholding.  If you are interested, please contact me and I will provide some details for you.

From The Stables

It was a quiet week for our stables with just a few runners for our trainers Neil Mulholland and Johnny Farrelly. There were no runners last Monday and just one each for Neil and Johnny on Tuesday.   Both were placed, Green or Black was 2nd for Neil and Western Sunrise, 3rd for Johnny.

On Wednesday, Mountain Rock was unplaced for Johnny at Ffos Las.  For Neil, Caroline’s Charm outran his odds to finish 4th and Dead Right ran well but a couple of crucial jumping errors cost him the race.  Heavey was Neil’s third runner at Ffos Las and he ran a cracker to finish 2nd , but Seven Clans was beaten at Kempton.

There were no runners on Thursday or Friday and just Last Enchantment for Neil on Saturday, who was well beaten.  There were a few runners on Sunday as Johnny’s Captains Run was unplaced.  For Neil, Doing Fine ran well, but Soupy Soups struggled.  Monday was a blank day in terms of runners.

Getting Involved

Fees for horses are all-inclusive and buying a share in a BG Racing horse is a decision that you will not regret.  Quoted prices (except for Fr Humphrey) include the purchase price of the horse and should you decide to renew for a second year, you will only need to pay training fees which are under £200 per 1% share.  If you are interested in finding out more about what is involved, then please do get in touch as I would be delighted to discuss things with you.

I issue weekly shareholder updates (which go into more detail than the blog) and frequent updates on social media.  Feel free to like the FaceBook page and follow the Twitter updates.

I also have an e-book entitled “Racehorse Ownership – Everything You Might Have Wanted To Know But Would Not Have Known Who To Ask“.  This is free and the download page can be accessed here.

Have a great week.
