Weekly Update 04-03-18
By BG Racing Syndicates On 4th March 2018
Well that was a week with plenty of weather and not much racing!
Hopefully I can provide some racing interest though, as I am happy to provide a free copy of my e-book to you and I am launching a Cheltenham competition to win a share in one of the horses!
I spoke to Neil and Johnny who were both really badly affected by snow this week, but I am pleased to report that both are on their way back to normality. Neil’s yard suffered from major snow drifts. Neil got the gallops open pretty quickly but they were only really able to hack and canter horses and they are still battling to get the roads outside the yard open so that they can get boxes out to the races this week.
Johnny is right at the top of a hill and the roads up were completely blocked. As he only had a couple of staff able to get in, Johnny’s horses spent more time than usual on the horse-walker this week, but they are back cantering today.
Cheltenham & Tipping Competition
I will be at the Cheltenham festival for all four days and if anyone is making the trip to the festival and would like to come and have a chat about BG Racing, then I will be in the “office” all week on the members steps overlooking the course!
I am running a Cheltenham Tipping Competition. Entries are £10 each and, as far as possible, all entry fees will be paid out in 1% shares of the horses. The more entries I get, the more prizes I will make available, so feel free to enter as many times as you wish.
I have posted all the details into a blog post on the website which you can view by clicking here.
If you feel that a lack of knowledge is a constraint, then I can assure you that there are occasions when selecting some horses that a) you like the name of and b) that are reasonably close to the head of the market for each race, would be more successful than having some expertise! Let me know if you want any more information and I look forward to receiving your entry or entries.
I hope you will support the competition, it is your chance to win a share in one of the BG Racing horses for a very small cost.
I am delighted to announce the launch of my e-book “Racehorse Ownership – Everything You Might Have Wanted To Know But Would Not Have Known Who To Ask” I have built as web page that can be used to download the book and this can be accessed by clicking this link.
There is an introductory video and a box on the right to enter your name and email address. You will then be taken to a thank you page from which you can open the guide. You will also receive an email with a link direct to the guide. I hope you enjoy it. If you have any friends, colleagues or contacts that you think might like to have a copy, please send them the following link as this will ensure I capture their email address. Please don’t share the guide directly as this will mean I have no way of communicating with them in the future:
I went over to Newbury Racecourse on Tuesday for a BHA roadshow event. This was a really informative morning with presentations from the British Horseracing Authority (the rule makers), the Racecourse Association (the courses), the Racehorse Owners Association (represents owners – I am a member) and Great British Horse Racing (the publicity and marketing arm of the industry). The event was facilitated by Nick Luck, the journalist and TV presenter.
It was a great session covering increases to prize money, what courses are doing to increase attendances and make things better for owners, how the industry are looking after their people and how they are working with the bookmakers. I really enjoyed it and it was really interesting to hear about things that otherwise may be taken for granted.
The Way You Dance
It has been a quiet week for The Way You Dance and that might set him back a week. There is no cause for concern and everything is going fine, but he obviously did miss some work. Hopefully he will be back to normal routine this week and we should soon be back on track. The Way You Dance should run regularly for us throughout the summer and autumn and offers plenty of chances to go racing and a pretty low entry cost.
After a few easy days, Johnny will need to get Justice Super back to doing his three canters each day. Once he has him back at that level, then he plans to school him over hurdles and hopefully we will see him back on the racecourse in the coming weeks. If you are thinking of having a share in Justice Super, now would be the time to take the plunge, as he will hopefully be running soon. Shares in Justice Super are only £258.50 per 1% and I feel he has a massive upside if he stays sound and frankly little downside given the share price!
Much the same as The Way You Dance for My Brother. I asked Neil about his previous niggle and he reported that whilst they are keeping an eye on it, there is nothing that is causing any concern at all at the moment. He is looking great and whilst shares are more expensive to reflect the higher initial cost of purchase, he could be at a different level over jumps to the other two and I think he is an exciting prospect.
From The Stables
Not many runners for our stables this week. Neil had two second places last Sunday, with Niblawi and Kansas City Chief and on Monday he had the winner of the mares bumper at Plumpton when Queens Magic made a great debut, winning well. That was pretty much the end of the week in terms of runners though. Mrs Burbidge was third for Neil on Wednesday on the all weather and the rest of the week was all snow!
Website and Social Media
All my focus this week has been on the e-book and tipping competition, so not much else to report.
As ever, don’t forget to follow the Facebook and Twitter updates and thanks for helping me to spread the word with likes, shares and re-tweets.
Thinking of Joining Us?
I hope you have seen the video on the home page which outlines the benefits and experience of owning a share in a horse? Our three horses all have shares available and hopefully there is something for everyone.
The Way You Dance will be targeting three mile hurdle races and with an exciting winning debut over that distance there is lots to look forward to. Shares are £280.50 per 1% share and if the last two seasons are an indication, then there will be several opportunities to go racing and hopefully this season there will be plenty of prize money as well! Details on the horse page.
Justice Super shares are £258.50 per 1% to 31st August. He is likely to be the first of the three to run and could be capable of a higher level than that The Way You Dance. Shares are good value and details are on the horse page.
My Brother could be the best of the bunch in time. He was well rated on the flat and if he converts that ability to hurdles then he could be a “Saturday horse” capable of running in top races. Shares are £450 per 1% shareholding and this is a chance to get involved with an exciting prospect. Details on the horse page.
I should point out that all of the above include the purchase price of the horse. Should you decide to renew for a second year, you will only need to pay training fees which are under £200 per 1% share.
Contact me if you want any further information and I hope you have a great week.
