Weekly Update 11-02-18
By BG Racing Syndicates On 11th February 2018
Quieter week this week, so a slightly shorter blog. The news on our horses remains all positive though and I am looking forward to being in a position to think about running plans for them in the coming weeks. I am really looking forward to getting all three of them racing for different reasons and the next few months are eagerly awaited!
My new e-book “Racehorse Ownership – Everything You Might Have Wanted to Know But Wouldn’t Have Known Who To Ask” should be available at the end of the month. I spent some time collating images for the book and these are now off with the final draft to be turned into a book.
The Way You Dance
I spoke to Neil a couple of days ago about The Way You Dance and he confirmed that there were no issues and TWYD is doing everything he should be. Hopefully he will start cantering in the next couple of weeks to build his fitness. If you want to be part of this season with The Way You Dance, then his shares are an absolute bargain for a horse that has run pretty much 10 times each of the last two years and won four races for us. To get involved, see below for details.
Johnny has confirmed that everything is absolutely fine with Justice Super who continues to canter away on the gallops every day. Hopefully he will be ready to start schooling over hurdles soon and then we will look for a suitable race for him. Shares in Justice Super are only £260.50 per 1% and I feel he has a massive upside if he stays sound and frankly little downside given the share price! I am doing a deal on Justice in that I will knock £50 off the price for anyone buying 5% for £1,250 – just contact me if you are interested.
Very positive news on My Brother this week as Neil reported that he has now done a week of cantering with no ill effects at all. We will of course keep an eye on him as he progresses but things are looking good for us being able to get him racing soon. This one could be at a different level over jumps and details of how to get involved are below.
From The Stables
The week started well when Neil and Johnny fought out the finish of the 4pm race at Taunton last Sunday. Neil came out on top with Minellatillmorning beating Johnny’s Mr Lando.
American Patrol was a winner for Neil on Wednesday on the all-weather and was backed in from an overnight price of 20-1 to start at 7-4!
Thursday was a cracking day for Johnny with Sparkling Dawn winning a bumper at 5-1 which followed up stable stalwart, Crown Hill, who narrowly failed to win but secured 2nd at 12-1 and And The New who was third. Neil had his 2nd winner in two days on the AW when Just Fred won at Chelmsford breaking a 25 race losing sequence. Neil was quick to point out that those were not all races for him as the horse moved yards to Neil several runs ago!
On Friday Neil did managed 9-1 and 80-1 places with Rebel Collins and Duke of Kilcorral and rounded off the week with Solighoster winning at Warwick on Saturday.
Website and Social Media
I sent out the February non members newsletter on Wednesday – if you do not receive this, then enter your email address in the box at the bottom of the homepage and you will be added to the mailing list.
I spent yesterday morning up at the studios of Surrey Hills Community radio in Leatherhead where I did an hour interview with the Saturday breakfast show’s Dave Smith who is a good friend of mine. I put out a very short Facebook live from the studio which is here if you did not see it.
Dave puts recordings of the shows (audio – you don’t have to watch us) up online, so I will provide details of the link once it has been uploaded.
As ever, don’t forget to follow the Facebook and Twitter updates and thanks for helping me to spread the word with likes, shares and re-tweets.
Thinking of Joining Us?
I hope you have seen the video on the home page which outlines the benefits and experience of owning a share in a horse – if not, what are you waiting for? Our three horses all have shares available and hopefully there is something for everyone.
The Way You Dance will be targeting three mile hurdle races and with an exciting winning debut over that distance there is lots to look forward to. Shares are £280.50 per 1% share and if the last two seasons are an indication, then there will be several opportunities to go racing and hopefully this season there will be plenty of prize money as well! Details on the horse page.
Justice Super is back with Johnny and nearly ready to run. Shares are £258.50 per 1% to 31st August and given that he could be capable of a higher level than that The Way You Dance, these do look good value right now. Details are on the horse page.
My Brother could be the best of the bunch in time. He was well rated on the flat and if he converts that ability to hurdles then he could be a “Saturday horse” capable of running in top races. Shares are £450 per 1% shareholding and this is a chance to get involved with an exciting prospect. Details on the horse page.
I should point out that all of the above include the purchase price of the horse. Should you decide to renew for a second year, you will only need to pay training fees which are under £200 per 1% share.
Contact me if you want any further information and I hope you have a great week.
