Weekly Update 25-02-18
By BG Racing Syndicates On 25th February 2018
I had a good visit to the yards this week and I am delighted to report that all three horses seem to be thriving. All systems are go in their preparations to return to the racecourse. You will probably be aware that there is some cold and snowy weather forecast this week, but as long as this does not affect the gallops, it should not disrupt the training of our horses.
It was great to see Tom Cannon who was down at Johnny’s schooling some horses ahead of riding for Johnny at Exeter that afternoon. Tom was the jockey at Alan’s when I first started visiting the yard at Henfold and I have followed his progress through from being a young promising rider, to now where he is a solid mid tier jumps jockey.
My new e-book “Racehorse Ownership – Everything You Might Have Wanted to Know But Wouldn’t Have Known Who To Ask” should be available this week. Please look out for Facebook posts with the links to get a free copy.
Cheltenham & Tipping Competition
I will be at the Cheltenham festival for all four days and if anyone is making the trip to the festival and would like to come and have a chat about BG Racing, then I will be in the “office” all week on the members steps overlooking the course!
I have decided to operate a tipping competition for Cheltenham as this could be a good opportunity to get some more people involved with BG Racing. I am still working on the details and I make a blog post and Facebook and Twitter posts once I have sorted it, but is is likely to be a £10 entry for a chance to win a 1% share of one of the horses. The more people enter, the more prizes I will make available. I am not looking to profit, it is just a means of selling shares!
I hope you will support the competition, it is your chance to win a share in one of the BG Racing horses for a very small cost.
The Way You Dance
I watched The Way You Dance come once up the hill gallop and once up the flat gallop at Neil’s on Tuesday. He seems very well and whilst he is going steadily at the moment, all seems in good order. He is maybe a week or two behind My Brother in terms of his preparation and we can therefore expect that he is still around eight weeks from being ready to return to action.
I got Neil to take some video from the car as The Way You Dance came up the flat gallop and I posted this onto Facebook. If you did not see it, then click here to access it. There is no commentary so no need for audio unless you like the sound of the wind!
The Way You Dance should run regularly for us throughout the summer and autumn and offers plenty of chances to go racing and a pretty low entry cost.
I watched Justice Super come up Johnny’s gallops a couple of times this week as well. I did some Facebook live video from the gallops which was going very well until I turned to face the gallops and the wind started pounding the microphone! The commentary is therefore a bit patchy, but you can watch the video here. Justice Super is still going really well and Johnny and I are starting to discuss campaigning him. We have agreed to chat this through further in the next couple of weeks as he gets closer to running.
Johnny feels that Justice Super has taken longer than he thought he would to get properly race fit, but we should only be a few weeks away from going racing. Shares in Justice Super are only £258.50 per 1% and I feel he has a massive upside if he stays sound and frankly little downside given the share price!
My Brother looks great and I am getting very excited by him. He looks so athletic and well balanced on the gallops. Everything he does looks quite majestic and everyone seems very happy with his progression. He started cantering a couple of weeks ahead of The Way You Dance, so he is maybe 6-8 weeks away from being ready. At this stage it is always tough to be specific as it really depends on how they progress when the workload starts building. The video of him on the gallops is here.
Shares in this one are more expensive to reflect the higher initial cost of purchase, but he could be at a different level over jumps to the other two and I think he is an exciting prospect.
From The Stables
Quiet week for our stables. Halo Moon was placed at a big price for Neil on Wednesday and he also had Lubatic placed on Thursday, when Alan had the weeks winner through Masseys Wood in Ireland.
Website and Social Media
The website focus has been on creating a new page to host the e-book once it is available.
As ever, don’t forget to follow the Facebook and Twitter updates and thanks for helping me to spread the word with likes, shares and re-tweets.
Thinking of Joining Us?
I hope you have seen the video on the home page which outlines the benefits and experience of owning a share in a horse – if not, what are you waiting for? Our three horses all have shares available and hopefully there is something for everyone.
The Way You Dance will be targeting three mile hurdle races and with an exciting winning debut over that distance there is lots to look forward to. Shares are £280.50 per 1% share and if the last two seasons are an indication, then there will be several opportunities to go racing and hopefully this season there will be plenty of prize money as well! Details on the horse page.
Justice Super shares are £258.50 per 1% to 31st August. He is likely to be the first of the three to run and could be capable of a higher level than that The Way You Dance. Shares are good value and details are on the horse page.
My Brother could be the best of the bunch in time. He was well rated on the flat and if he converts that ability to hurdles then he could be a “Saturday horse” capable of running in top races. Shares are £450 per 1% shareholding and this is a chance to get involved with an exciting prospect. Details on the horse page.
I should point out that all of the above include the purchase price of the horse. Should you decide to renew for a second year, you will only need to pay training fees which are under £200 per 1% share.
Contact me if you want any further information and I hope you have a great week.
