Weekly Update 26-03-18

By On 26th March 2018

I took a trip down to the stables on Saturday morning – it was a bit of a spur of the moment decision as I was going to go last week but the weather intervened.  The opportunity arose to head down early Saturday, so I took it!

I put together some video from the gallops of all three horses.  I have a new bit of kit that allows me to control the phone camera from a trigger and should keep the picture much more steady.  I am however still getting to grips with it, so apologies for the couple of occasions where I took the horses out of shot!

I have uploaded the video to Youtube and you can access it here.

I have had some interest in Justice Super shares this week, but I would like to sell some more before he runs in a couple of weeks (see below).

E-Book Launch

In case you have missed it, I recently launched an e-book entitled “Racehorse Ownership – Everything You Might Have Wanted To Know But Would Not Have Known Who To Ask“.  This is free to get hold of and if you have not got your copy then the download page can be accessed by clicking this link.

There is an introductory video and a box on the right to enter your name and email address.  You will then be taken to a thank you page from which you can open the guide.  You will also receive an email with a link direct to the guide.

If you have any friends, colleagues or contacts that you think might like to have a copy, can you send them to the following link:

The Way You Dance

All still going well with The Way You Dance .  He has fallen a little behind My Brother but that is only because My Brother has developed and progressed quickly rather than there being any issue with The Way You Dance.  We are still all on track to be running at the end of April or early May.  I saw him on the gallops on Saturday and he is going nicely.

He should run regularly for us throughout the summer and autumn and offers plenty of chances to go racing and a pretty low entry cost.

Justice Super

I spent a long while with Johnny on Saturday.  We are basically two weeks off a run with Justice Super.  We will start him off over 2 miles in a novice hurdle.  Johnny’s opinion is that Justice is an improved horse from last year as he seems to have retained his ability whilst having matured in terms of temperament.  Having had a lay off, we know he will improve for the run, so we will not have him ridden from the front as he might tire quickly at the end of the race, we will however have him ridden close to the pace and given every chance of winning if he is fit enough.  The most likely race options are Kempton on Monday 9th or Southwell on Tuesday 10th April.

This means that you can buy a shareholding and come racing as an owner in the next couple of weeks.  The cost is £258.50 per 1% to cover until 31st August and renewal after than will be under £200 per 1% for another year.  This includes purchase of the share at a current valuation of the horse.  There is a discount for purchases of 5% or more, with 5% available for £1,250.  Please contact me if you need any more details.

My Brother

Neil is very positive about My Brother.  He is coming on in leaps and bounds and Neil thinks he will be ready to run before The Way You Dance and probably before the end of April.  If that is the case, then we will start him on the flat to protect his novice status over hurdles.  All of his work is at a faster pace now as you will see from the gallops video and I spoke to Liam who was riding him on Saturday and he was very enthusiastic about him.  As with Justice Super, now is the time to purchase shares ahead of him running.  Due to the value of the horse these are £450 per 1% share.  He is looking exciting though and renewal in October will be the same price as the other horses as by then you will own the shareholding, please contact me if you want to discuss.

From The Stables

Last Monday and Tuesday, there were no runners from our stables.  We returned to action on Wednesday when Neil ran Champagne George and Floral Queen and Johnny ran Home Again and Dalasiri.  Floral Queen, Home Again and Dalasiri were all beaten whilst Champagne George was third.

On Thursday, Mr Lando did not feature for Johnny.  Neil’s Minellatillmorning was 2nd and Looks Frozen was beaten.  Neil ran four and Alan two on Friday.  Both of Alan’s runners were fancied and were very disappointing.  Highbury High, Dieg Man and Masquerade Bling were all unplaced for Neil, but  Halo Moon grabbed third.

Only two runners on a quiet Saturday, both for Neil.  Rebel Collins was perhaps unlucky not to win finishing 2nd whilst Neachells Bridge also ran creditably finishing third.

After what had been an unspectacular week, Sunday proved to be very diffferent.  Alan declared three horses with one later being made a non runner.  This left two, Timewaitsfornoone who won at odds on at Downpatrick and Katie Cruel at Naas who also won well.  The latter was great for Alan who also owns the horse!

Website and Social Media

I put out a Cheltenham review video on Facebook last week – if you did not see it, you can watch it on the BG Racing Facebook Page.

Thinking of Joining Us?

Our three horses all have shares available and now is the time to take the plunge as all will be running soon.

The Way You Dance will be targeting three mile hurdle races and with an exciting winning debut over that distance there is lots to look forward to.  Shares are £280.50 per 1% share and if the last two seasons are an indication, then there will be several opportunities to go racing and hopefully this season there will be plenty of prize money as well!  Details on the horse page.

Justice Super shares are £258.50 per 1% to 31st August.  He will run in two weeks time and could be capable of a higher level than that The Way You Dance.  Shares are good value and details are on the horse page.

My Brother could be the best of the bunch in time.  He was well rated on the flat and if he converts that ability to hurdles then he could be a “Saturday horse” capable of running in top races.  Shares are £450 per 1% shareholding and this is a chance to get involved with an exciting prospect.  Details on the horse page.

I should point out that all of the above include the purchase price of the horse.  Should you decide to renew for a second year, you will only need to pay training fees which are under £200 per 1% share.

Contact me if you want any further information and I hope you have a great week.
